Academics

OUR PROGRAMS

Our school is a community dedicated exclusively to students and learning. We currently serve students from early education to elementary grades. We strive for academic and moral excellence by blending a Montessori-inspired education with California Common Core State Standards. We support our mission through low teacher-to student ratios, family participation, multi-aged classrooms, a diverse God-centric curriculum, and differentiated learning for each student. We utilize an integrated approach to Islamic studies and Quran in our daily curriculum.

At Enlight Academy, we have services for students’ psychological needs that can also help them connect better with their parents. We have multiple workshops throughout the year to assist parents to be more familiar with their children’s developmental stages and mental and emotional needs.

OUR CURRICULUM

Montessori-inspired education systems offer a unique and holistic approach to learning, fostering a nurturing environment that promotes the development of each child’s individual potential. Rooted in the Montessori philosophy, these systems prioritize self-directed learning, hands-on experiences, and a deep respect for the child’s natural curiosity and desire to explore. By allowing students to progress at their own pace and engaging them in practical, real-world activities, Montessori-inspired education nurtures critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity. Furthermore, it cultivates essential life skills such as independence, self-regulation, and collaboration, equipping children with the tools they need to succeed in today’s rapidly changing world. Embracing diversity and fostering a strong sense of community, Montessori-inspired education systems empower students to become responsible, compassionate, and confident global citizens.

Language Art

Language Arts

Students will engage in activities that build on their natural curiosity and prior knowledge, in order to develop their reading, writing, and oral skills. They will learn to make inferences and draw conclusions as part of the reading process. Particular attention will be given to the elements of the writing process (planning, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing) to ensure that students learn to articulate their ideas well.

Math

Math

Students will develop number and operations skills along with an understanding and application of place values and properties of operations, in order to solve problems and gain a deeper understanding of their relevance to the real world. Instead of rote memorization, students will be encouraged to understand concepts and think mathematically.

Science

Science

Students will observe and describe the natural world using their senses. They will learn about the natural world, and the basic needs for organisms to survive in their environment. Students will use age appropriate tools and models to investigate the natural world and develop abilities to ask questions and seek answers in classroom and outdoor investigations.

Social Studies

Social Studies

Students will learn about the world in their community. They will begin to understand past events and how these events relate to present and future activities, while demonstrating evidence of their growing understanding of time, change, and continuity. Students will practice communicating in oral, visual, and written forms to share their discoveries with their peers.

Islamic Studies

Islamic Education

Students will develop Islamic morals, values, and behaviors through character building workshops. Skills and proficiencies in performing various Islamic obligations such as reading Quran, performing Salah, Sawm, Zakah, and dealing with others, will also be developed.

PE

PE

Students will work on body awareness, space awareness, and movement exploration. Locomotor skills such as skipping, non locomotor skills such as static balancing, and object manipulation such as catching a ball, will be incorporated into games in order to improve students’ gross motor skills.
